Artist: Hermine Bourdin

The “Sepentine Lamp” originates from a digital artwork, titled “In Scorching sun” by the artists Hermine Bourdin and Krista Kim. The inspiration for this art piece came from the Minoan Snake Goddess, with the snake representing the earth’s life force and the renewal of life through shedding its skin. On the occasion of “ill at ease” the artist Hermine Bourdin commissioned by Bombay Sapphire, has produced a physical version of this work in Murano, Venice.

“La Callipygian Blue” is a sculptural side table crafted from sturdy porcelain, uniquely glazed in a deep, nuanced shade of blue. The sculptress Hermine Bourdin originally crafted this piece for her home because she needed a bed stand and thought she might as well create her own inspired by her sculptures. From the Greek words "kallos," meaning beautiful, and "pyge," meaning buttocks.

This new series by Khaled El Mays represents an iteration of the Flora Seating Series. Covered in a fabric with a psychedelic texture, between colors and imaginative shapes, the Flora sofas create a powerful narrative, transporting the observer into the world of the designer. The dreamy effect of the set-up invited visitors to sit and dream about an otherworldly experience.

The sofa-sculpture “Matrizia” was born by modelling and recovering a mattress to create a comfortable and innovative seat. Its name is a witty combination of the word “mattress” with “Patrizia”, the founder of Moroso signature design gallery.

The idea came about by accident, after seeing an abandoned mattresses in the streets of Tel Aviv, a sight which captured the boundless imagination of Ron Arad.

The “Opposite Chair” relies on the simplicity of forms; an allegory of two contrasting yet blurry connected scenarios, the virtual and the physical. In this piece, we wonder about the intersection of equals and opposites, reflectiveness, and shape perception. The chair is embedded with an authentication chip, built on Blockchain technology (Ethereum ERC-721) that allows the owner to scan the artwork by proximity with the cell phone and bridge the physical and virtual worlds.

Artist: Diango Hernández

The work 'Espacio' is a printed rug produced especially for “ill at ease” by the Cuban artist. The motif printed on the rug is a poem converted into “waves”. The poem, “A los Espacios”, is by one of Cuba's national hero and most celebrated authors: José Martí.

The artist sees our homes as containers of stories, as literary artifacts. For this reason, it is important for Diango to introduce poetry -and texts in general- within households.

Ron Arad is one of the most influential artists, designers and architects of our time. Born in Tel Aviv in 1951, Arad attended the Jerusalem Academy of Art and later the Architectural Association in London. He co-founded the design and production studio One Off in 1981 and in 1989 Ron Arad Associates, his architecture and design practice with Caroline Thorman. Ron Arad Architects was founded in 2008. He stands out for his daredevil curiosity for form, structure, technology, materials and in the sheer versatility of his practices. His work spans industrial design, hand-crafted studio pieces, sculpture, architecture and mixed media installations. Arad was a professor of Design at the Hochschule in Vienna from 1994 to 1997 as well as Professor of Design Products at the Royal College of Art in London until 2009 when he was made Professor Emeritus. In 2002 he was recognized by the Royal Designers for Industry for his ‘sustained excellence in aesthetic and efficient design for industry.’ His first major retrospective of his work titled No Discipline, debuted in 2008 at the Pompidou Centre followed by the MoMA in 2009. In 2013 Arad was elected as a Royal Academician by the Royal Academy of Art in London and he received the London Design Medal in 2011. Arad is persistent in his experimentation with materials and has radically re-conceptualized the notion of form and structure across art, architecture and design, placing him at the forefront of contemporary creativity. Arad’s latest artwork Slow Outburst was created with Shifting Vision, an arts incubator and private sales platform founded by Edouard Sterngold in 2020. Shifting Vision uses Web3 technology to help artists expand their creative boundaries and benefit financially from the sales of their work. Shifting Vision applies the technology to benefit collectors too, giving them immutable certificates for all of their art works purchased through the platform, securing the provenance of these acquisitions in their collections.

Hermine Bourdin is an artist of French nationality with Czech heritage. Her art studio is located in Seine St Denis, Grand Paris. Many of Bourdin’s artworks feature organic circles, an ancient symbol of feminine strength. The circle is unbroken and unbreakable, paying tribute to the resilience of women. The artist believes that every woman is a potential sculptress of life, the circle represents either earth or the womb, but also the potential of every woman and their sisterhood. Bourdin also uses digital tools as new material for exploration and creation, allowing her to defy the laws of the physical universe through new technologies, liberating her of the static and gravitational constraint of material work. Bourdin’s physical sculptures have been exhibited in renowned galleries such as the KÖNIG Galerie in Berlin, Galerie Melissa Paul in London, Galerie Julie Caredda in Paris, Galerie Philia in New York City, as well as Geneva, Copenhagen and Prag. Her digital art has been exhibited during the CADAF Digital Art Month in Paris, at Art Basel Miami, at the Musée des Archives in Paris during Paris Design Week, in New York City, and Lisbon.

Khaled El Mays was born in Lebanon, earned a degree in architecture from the American University of Beirut and an MFA in digital arts from Pratt Institute in New York. His work tackles multiplicity and repetition, and the outcome is always an instance of purity and balance extracted from pools of visual data. In 2013, Khaled launched his debut Furniture series, “Rhizomes”, since then his work has been exhibited in influential cities around the world. He is the founder of Atelier Khaled El Mays, which is a Multi-disciplinary design studio that focuses on Furniture Design, Interior Architecture and Graphics in Space. The studio splits effort between two worlds of manufacturing. One is community conscious: khaled’s designs are produced by an array of local craftsmen. The process is very organic and the pieces move between local artisans. This process allows these small businesses to grow or maintain their structures. The second one is a luxury driven process, where the best suppliers are involved; the pieces go through a formal production process using the noblest materials. Khaled el mays has been named designer of the year 2022 by Elle Decor worldwide.

Diango Hernández began his artistic practice in Cuba in 1994 as a co-founder of Ordo Amoris Cabinet, a group of artists and designers who focused on inventing solutions for home design objects to compensate for a permanent shortage of materials and goods. The artist moved to Europe in 2003 and currently lives and works between Havana and Düsseldorf. His work was the subject of solo exhibitions at the Kunsthalle, Basel (2006) and the Neuer Aachener Kunstverein (2007). His work was exhibited in the Arsenale as part of the 51st Venice Biennale and also in 2006 in the Biennale of Sydney and the São Paulo Biennial. His work was the subject of a critically acclaimed exhibition of new work, “Losing You Tonight,” at the Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Siegen (2009) and in 2010 two installations were included in “The New Décor” at the Hayward Gallery, London. A survey exhibition of his work took place at Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea (MART) in Rovereto in 2011-12. In 2013, Marlborough Contemporary, London presented a solo exhibition of his work “The New Man and the New Woman.” His work was the subject of a solo exhibition “Socialist Nature” in 2014 at Landesgalerie, Linz. Hernández has had solo exhibitions at Marlborough Contemporary, London and the Kunsthalle Munster in 2015. In 2016, a solo exhibition of Hernández’s work, titled “Theoretical Beach,” took place at the Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen. In 2020 Hernández’s work was exhibited at La Bienal de La Habana and in 2021 his new series Olaísmo was shown at Wizard Gallery in Milan.

Six N Five is the creative art studio by Ezequiel Pini, an award-winning Argentinian designer and artist based in Barcelona.
